Q. Who the F@*k are the Beers?
A. The Beers are a basketball club first formed in Brisbane, Australia in 1999. There’s more info on the Beers History page.

Q. Are you guys actually any good at Basketball?
A. Nope. We suck. Some of us could kinda play back in the day, but these days it’s strictly for fun.

Q. Why do you bother?
A. What else are we going to do? We can’t sit around and drink beer all day.

Q. Why do you glorify alcohol, isn’t that irresponsible?
A. The Beers support the responsible service and consumption of alcohol and believe beer is best enjoyed in moderation by those of legal age. We only consume mid-strength XXXX Gold after games and deplore drink driving. We see ‘Beer’ as one of the world’s oldest mediums of friendship, fun and bonding. It is more than just a hopped beverage. To us it is a symbol that represents many of the good things in life, something that brings people together by having a drink together after the game.

Q. Where did the club name ‘Beers’ come from?
A. Kind of from the movie BASEketball.

Q. Do have a facespace page or any of these other new things the kiddies are using?
A. The Beers Tweet on Twitter and have a Beers Basketball group on Facebook. We don’t like Rupert’s  Myspace. You could also follow our stories using the The Beers RSS Feed and your favorite news reader (like iGoogle etc).

Q. Do the Beers do anything to help the community?
A. We try to get involved in community events and fundraising, like Movember, Call to Arms, the Bridge to Brisbane fun run and other charitable ventures. Many Beers also coach junior basketball teams and we donate to Greenpeace and the QLD Surf Lifesavers.
