Go Boys, give uni hell!

I thought I would give you all an insight into the what it is like to dunk a basketball. My first dunk in a game was Ct 1 at Carina. That one was good, and the reason i know it was good was that one of the guys on the team was raving about it at his step-dad’s wake.

The second real attempt at a dunk came against, i think it was the women’s brisbane side. I stuck up a stinker of a jumper, it hit the front of the rim and came straight back to me. A lane wider than the SE Freeway opened up and i took it to the hole for a patented tomahawk. Unfortunately that dunk attempt hit the front of the rim too, and I definitely remember laughter coming from all around the court.

From that moment on dunking and women both terrified me.

The next dunk came during a GBL final when Townsville coach Trevor Gleeson was coaching Uni. Everybody i knew showed up to cheer me from the stands, and when i got put on for junk time and got the ball in the open court on the break, there was only one thing to do - throw down the softest girliest dunk i possibly could. Once again i recall laughter, especially from the coach.

From that moment on Trevor Gleeson and crowds both terrified me.

So the dunking shoes were hung up due to a combination of pathetic physical strength and general patheticness.

Tuesday’s dunk may have been the result of a number of unique factors in Tuesday (1) I wasn’t wearing my mouthguard (2) one of my socks became double ended when i put it on, thus becoming a stocking (3) i cant remember (3). I think it will be the start of something beautiful
