Fearless Fab Four stage fabulous fightback for fantastic victory over floundering favourites

In one of the most famous victories in the history of the powerhouse franchise, a four-man Beers outfit claimed a stirring 43-37 win over the Chargers on Tuesday night.

The Poker.com trio of Plow, Snoop and Scotty didn’t know the right time for the court four classic which left the heavyweight quartet of Herman, Dirty, Dominator and Smokey to battle the evil little elves from the Chargers who rocketed into late favouritism with SportingBet when the Beers’ woes went public.

The Chargers skipped out to a commanding 11-4 lead in the early stages through a combination of the Beers trying to jack three and playing no defence but the “Fab Four” quickly regathered their thoughts and turned the contest into an slow, gritty, physical, inside arm-wrestle i.e. a match made to measure for the former world B grade champions.

With Dom continuing his stellar form in the paint, Dirty calling the shots as the biggest point guard in South-East Qld, Herman going coast-to-coast-to-coast and Smokey rebounding like his post-match beer depended on it, the Beers four-pack slowly - emphasis on the word slowly - but surely dragged themselves back into the match.

The Beers scored on the halftime buzzer to reduce the margin to just a handful of points and the relentless grind to the most unlikely of victories continued in the second stanza with the Chargers being worn down like the sole of an indoor basketball shoe being used on an ashphalt court.

The Beers drew level midway through the second half and forced the Chargers into foul trouble and put the game on ice with a few minutes remaining with some precise foul-shooting putting the result beyond doubt.

The Chargers went into a state of shock after the fulltime buzzer and the future of the constantly whinging and whining franchise of little people is now in grave doubt.

Beers media manager and three-point specialist power forward Greg “Smokey” Davis told the post-match press conference that he was delighted with the team’s performance which showed how much spirit existed in the Beers ranks.

“I am delighted with the team’s performance which showed how much spirit exists in the Beers ranks,” Davis said after being drug-tested by ASDA.

“Herman was a tower of strength as always, Dominator certainly lived up to his name and Dirty was absolutely magnificent while I was a dead-set passenger to be perfectly honest.

“I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Chargers fall apart after that because while it was a win that will define the Beers season, it was also a defeat that could tear apart those evil little elves…I certainly won’t lose any sleep if they fall by the wayside.

“I think the Beers can only go from strength to strength after that win, either that, or the guards will come back and spoil everything.”

Davis later fined himself for the public outburst against the Beers guards and will spend the next week in anger management counselling.
